The day began with my feeding the birds - the lovely part of being at Whippletree is that behind all the buildings is a vista of wilderness - standing at the fountain looking out back, is quite beautiful. There is a resident one-eyed black rabbit, and many birds - also an aloof eagle that I hear, but have yet to see. The sense of history I feel is quite strong. The old buildings have come from various parts of the island and together stand strong in their character. There are some buildings from Duncan's old China town and I believe my studio is from Sooke and was a gas station....research to do as I try to sort out what I want to concentrate on artwise. I am loving teaching new weavers - both 4 harness and woven tapestry and I am itching to do a tapestry. Have some new knitters coming and a spinning student. Margitta's studio is full of beautiful art and it makes me want to paint!!! One of the highlights of my week is finding out that Margitta's piece from the Verse and Vision show was based on a poem written by an old friend of mine, Janice Young and the poem was called Tapestry.......felt it was a bit of a message.....ah, yes the warp and weft....
